indentThis unique and dramatic obverse die cap was struck in 1782 in Austria at the Vienna Mint. The diameter for a regular 1 Kreuzer is 24 mm, with a weight of 7.4 grams and a thickness of 2 mm.

indentThis obverse die cap expanded considerably to over 32 mm as it capped the obverse die. It was struck multiple times as it wrapped around the obverse die. The pressure from the multiple strikes actually split the planchet in two areas.

indentThe reverse was struck repeatedly by the reverse die. In addition, the coin was brockaged multiple times by a struck coin, leaving repeated incuse impressions of the reverse design. This die cap also struck multiple coins creating a counterbrockage on the obverse of these new coins.

indentAlthough certified and authenticated MS 64 Brown by NGC, it is in gem condition and is virtually as struck. It is amazing that this unique 200 year old obverse die cap was preserved and eventually authenticated and certified at such a high grade. In addition to being a unique multiple error, incredible circumstances created this multi-struck obverse die cap with multiple brockages on the reverse.

Notice the raised design on the reverse from multiple strikes from the reverse die, in addition to the multiple brockages:
