Double dated error coins have long been a favorite of error coin collectors. These are error coins that are created by mistake at the mint with two visible dates on one coin. Most common are double struck double dated coins. The second date can be struck off center or on center in the case of a rotated double struck coin.
Another very interesting way to get a second date on a major error coin is when two coins are struck together leaving a brockage date pressed into another coin. One of the rarer ways to get two dates on one coin is when one denomination is struck on another previously struck coin of a different denomination. When it comes to error coin collecting, the astute numismatist will certainly want a double dated error coin in their collection.
