1859 Pattern Longacre’s Liberty Head Uniface Die Trial
This is one of three known uniface die trials by Longacre to create the 1859 U.S. Half Dollar pattern. It is struck in white metal or lead and is considered a pattern dollar because of the size and relief of the portrait. It is listed in United States Pattern Coins Eighth Edition in appendix A, page 310, J-A1859-7.
