The Only Certified 1861-B Germany Saxony Taler Mule

obvspacerev

indentThis rare Germany Saxony Silver Taler is a mule. It was struck with a mismatched obverse and reverse die. The obverse is KM# 1210 muled with the reverse of KM# 1214. Krause assigned this mule as KM# 1213 but it is not designated as a mule.

indentKrause lists the KM# 1210 at $90 in XF and $225 in MS 60. The KM# 1214 is listed at $70 in XF and $150 in MS 60. KM# 1213 (this mule) is listed at $800 in XF, $1,200 in MS 60, and unpriced in MS 63.

indentIt is a very recent discovery as a mule and is the only one certified by NGC or PCGS. Additionally, none have been auctioned by Heritage or Stack's Bowers.

indentStruck in Saxony Germany for Johann (1854-73), this silver Taler is .900 fine silver, weighs 18.52 g and has a diameter of 33 mm. It has a very pleasing appearance, good strike and full luster. A fascinating mule of a German silver Taler.
