This extremely rare 1983 Jefferson Nickel TRANSITIONAL was struck on an all copper Cent planchet weighing 3.1 grams instead of the new copper plated zinc Cent planchets weighing 2.5 grams. The composition of U.S. Lincoln Cents was changed in 1982.
