Unique Quarter Multi Struck on Copper Core

There are only three U.S. coins known that are struck on a core planchet. The core is the center strip of metal in the planchet that can be viewed on a clad dime, quarter or half by turning the coin on its side. To date, there is only one clad dime, quarter and half struck on the center core.

This quarter was certified by PCGS MS 63. This is a spectacular major mint error and a unique discovery coin. It is the only known U.S. Quarter (pre-state or state) struck on the pure copper core. It is multiple struck, uniface, expanded to the size of a Half Dollar and has a reeded edge. It is in choice mint state condition and has an attractive red and brown color.
